The Basic Center program provides supportive services for youth to come and get necessities such as food, clothing and hygiene, showers, laundry and ID's. This program implements positive alternatives for runaway, homeless and street youth by improving their immediate and ongoing safety, well-being, self-sufficiency and permanent connections. Tahoe Youth & Family Service's Basic Center Program focuses around a Comprehensive Youth Services Model and provides a full continuum of services including a 24-hour crisis line; gateway services; crisis intervention services; assessment; coordinated case management; individual, and family counseling; emergency temporary shelter via Host Homes and safe alternative placements; and after-care services. Tahoe Youth & Family Services integrates positive youth development and preventative services strategies into our culture of care by embracing harm-reduction and trauma-informed approaches in order to assist runaway, homeless and street youth in achieving safe, stable living arrangements and self-sufficiency.
“I was trying to get into college; Tahoe Youth & Family Services is the only reason I was able to prove residency since I am homeless. They helped me with the application process. Without them I would not be able to attend college.”
