TRANSITIONAL LIVING & RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAMS

Tahoe Youth & Family Services Transitional Living and Rapid Rehousing Program's purpose is to connect transitional aged youth (TAY) experiencing homelessness to permanent housing through a tailored package of assistance that may include the use of time-limited financial assistance and targeted supportive services. These programs help homeless youth or youth at risk of homelessness solve the practical and immediate challenges to obtaining permanent housing while reducing the amount of time they experience homelessness, avoiding a near-term return to homelessness, and linking to community resources that enable them to achieve long-term housing stability.

The Transitional Living Program (TLP) is for runaway and homeless youth, ages 16 to 21 that are experiencing homelessness and, if applicable, their dependent child(ren). This program implements, enhances, and supports effective strategies for a successful transition to sustainable living for youth in our community. Tahoe Youth and Family Services is committed to ensuring each youth's social and emotional well-being, creating permanent connections with caring adults, supporting education and employment advancement, and providing safe, stable, and nurturing housing environments so youth can thrive and become successful adults.
The Transitional Living Program Plus (TLP+) is identical to the above mention (TLP) but is specificity geared for homeless young adults, ages 21 to 24. The vision is to remove barriers to acquiring housing so that homeless youth are housed with supportive services first while providing a client-centered harm-reduction approach that meets the immediate needs of homeless youth in SLT.
The Rapid Rehousing (RRH) will utilize housing identification, move-in and rental assistance, and case management services with the intent that clients will move from being supported in their housing, to retaining and maintaining their housing, over time.

"I found myself in a very desperate situation. The pandemic hit and my job shut down. I never thought I would ask for help from anybody as I was on my own and wanted to prove a point, that point being that I was independent. Once my job shut down, I didn’t know what to do and I reached out to my school counselor. She referred me to Tahoe Youth and Family Services, and I don’t know what I would’ve I done with the extraordinary work they put into helping people in my situation would be without them. I believe we are all supposed to help each other and unfortunately I am not in the position to do so but I’m glad people are out there looking out for me and there’s nothing more amazing than the thought of people caring for you, regardless if they know you personally or not."
