Basic Center Program
Implements positive alternatives for runaway, homeless and street youth by improving their immediate and ongoing safety, well-being, self-sufficiency and permanent connections. Tahoe Youth & Family Service's Basic Center Program focuses around a Comprehensive Youth Services Model and provides a full continuum of services including a 24-hour crisis line; gateway services; crisis intervention services; assessment; coordinated case management; individual, and family counseling; emergency temporary shelter via Host Homes and safe alternative placements; and after-care services. Tahoe Youth & Family Services integrates positive youth development and preventative services strategies into our culture of care by embracing harm-reduction and trauma-informed approaches in order to assist runaway, homeless and street youth in achieving safe, stable living arrangements and self-sufficiency.
“I was trying to get into college; Tahoe Youth & Family Services is the only reason I was able to prove residency since I am homeless. They helped me with the application process. Without them I would not be able to attend college.”
