Counseling Services

Individual and Family Counseling
Our counselors are trained clinical therapists, serving the 0-18 population.  We offer bi-lingual services to address the needs of the Spanish speaking community within Lake Tahoe and Douglas County. Onsite and offsite crisis and transitional counseling, solution focused services and family reunification programs are available.

*Play Therapy
Therapists work with young children’s social and emotional development as well as resolving early trauma.

*Theraplay
The focus is strengthening the attachment and bond between the parent and their young children to promote resiliency and healthy development.

**Adult substance abuse treatment services

*Play Groups
Our staff offers groups for children ages 0-3 and 3-5, both during the week and some
Saturdays.  The focus is on developing peer
networks of parents and learning healthy and fun play techniques.

*Wraparound Services Program
This is a strength based, family focused, support service aimed at reducing the risk of out of home placement of a child.  Our team will create an individualized program that focuses on integrating the youth and family into the community and strives to keep the family intact.

Adolescent Outpatient Drug & Alcohol Services
Our therapists and counselors aid families and youth who are struggling with substance abuse in individual and group settings.  The primary goal is prevention and intervention services.

Lifeskills Group
This group covers conflict resolution, drug and alcohol education, family issues, values clarification, choices and consequences.

Adolescent Recovery Group
On-going support and relapse prevention for youths overcoming substance abuse and addiction.

*Juvenile Treatment Center Counseling Services
TYFS is pleased to offer one on one and group substance abuse counseling to youth as part of their court ordered recovery program.
